Independent Property Broker and Consultant

Knysna/Plettenberg Bay and surrounding areas

Origins :

I have been resident in the Garden Route for over 12 years, and have a good understanding of the business culture and the property market in the area.

Before moving to the Garden Route, I worked as an Industrial Engineer in manufacturing for over 10 years in Cape Town and surrounding areas. (I have a degree in Industrial Engineering, and I am still registered as a Professional Engineer).

I moved to the Garden Route in 1998 to manage a family business in the hospitality industry. I gained invaluable business management experience, and an in depth knowledge of the tourism and hospitality industry as well as the Garden Route in general. During this time I started an exports based business, as well as a property rental business. The family business was sold in 2004, and after taking a few months break, I decided to go into the property business.

A few years ago I qualified with the Estate Agents Affairs Board as a fully fledged Property Consultant, by attending an approved training course, and writing the exam. Since entering the Industry, I have completed many additional training courses.

Recently introduced legislation requires all property consultants to be re-evaluated and to complete a new study curriculum in order to continue as property consultant. I managed to obtain all these new qualifications during 2009, and am now qualified as principal.

Work history in real estate :

I joined a well known brand and stayed there for four and a half years, where I obtained my full status as a property consultant. I was fortunate enough to work alongside a Quantity Surveyor for much of the time I was there, and obtained invaluable experience and knowledge in the property field.

Towards the end of 2009, I was approached by a better known brand to join their team, which I subsequently did. After working there for a few months, I was moved to different suburbs which I did not enjoy.
There were also more restrictions placed on consultants about which areas they could work in and they way they were supposed to work with clients.

I then decided that the best option for me would be to have my own agency.
I therefore applied for a licence to open my own agency during 2010, which was granted by the Estate Agency Affairs Board, and I now have a valid licence as from 1 January 2011.
